Frequently Asked Questions

  • Whether it be low back pain from an old tail bone injury, or repetitive stress in your elbow, I offer a collaborative solution to your worries around pain.

Massage will help interrupt the pain cycle, a movement program will increase your body’s resilience, and our conversations about pain will help you understand why your pain is happening and give you the tools you need to prevent future flare ups.

  • Most massages you’ll find in Oakland focus on relieving muscle tension in the short term. My intention is to create long lasting impact.

Each appointment is designed to fit the individual. My work includes targeted mobility as well as relaxation, all with a unique focus on client’s mindset and relationship to pain.

  • After over a decade, my style has grown into its own brand of firm, intentional touch, but its roots are in Structural Integration, Craniosacral Therapy, and Sports Massage.

If you’re used to deep tissue massage, I use less oil, focus less on trigger points or “knots” and in favor of slow, deep strokes paired with client movement.

  • Clients have found relief from rotator cuff pain, plantar fasciitis, chronic disc related pain, sciatica, migraines and tension headaches, TMJD, thoracic outlet, carpal tunnel, pinched nerves, low back pain and persistent widespread pain associated with fibromyalgia.

If you’re dealing with one of the above conditions, it’s often not just about the tissue itself. I take a whole-system approach, assessing your movement, stress, as well as how your nervous system responds to the bodywork.

  • Absolutely.

Pregnancy comes with so many changes; not only in the soft tissues like ligaments and skin, but in the immune and endocrine system (hormones). This can lead to pregnant folks feeling like a stranger in their own body.

Having gone through pregnancy and childbirth myself, massage was an anchor for both my nervous system and my aching hips. I’ll provide compassionate touch as well as suggestions for exercises to help soothe your body at home. For those located in Berkeley, I offer prenatal and postpartum massages at Brilliant Births on Fourth Street.

  • While I don’t take insurance, some clients has used HSAs. If price is a barrier to treatment, please reach out for more information about my sliding scale.

  • Just a few blocks off Lake Merritt in Downtown Oakland, my massage studio looks out over a quiet street lined with cute boutiques. Clients looking for a thoughtful approach to massage therapy find it well worth it to travel to this location from all over the East Bay.
